While many television service providers claim to have the best service though programming and technology, Direct TV actually backs it up. The commitment to service has one this particular satellite television service provider the loyal following of over fifteen and a half million subscribers, and probably many more viewers than that when you take into account other people in those subscribers' households. The great technology that Direct TV uses goes a long way toward creating this level of success. For example, instead of relying on cables or over the air transmission, all of Direct TV's programming is sent using a fleet of satellites in geosynchronous orbit over the Earth's equator. All of the programming that's transmitted the thousands of miles up to the satellites is then transmitted back down all over North America. That means that anyone in almost any part of the continent can receive satellite television service from Direct TV. That's because, just about the only place that satellite TV signals won't reach is the bottom of deep canyons, and not many people live down there anyway. As a result of the huge geographic area where this satellite programming is available, there are a huge number of people who can sign up for service. No mere cable TV provider has that enormous of a service area!

There are also a number of other implications to the satellite technology that's used by Direct TV. The first, and probably the most obvious, is that you can live anywhere and still get satellite TV. As mentioned above, all that you need besides a source of electricity to power the equipment is a clear view to the southern sky. With satellite technology combined with photovoltaics or wind power you can enjoy all of the conveniences of modern technology without any ties to an electrical grid, the phone networks, or a cable network.

Another implication of this is that you can take Direct TV programming with you wherever you go. There are a couple of ways you can do this. The most common one is to have your satellite TV system installed in your camper or motor home. That way, once you set up your satellite dish on a tripod, you'll be able to enjoy all of your favorite TV wherever you stop to camp. You may even be able to get a satellite dish permanently installed in the roof of your RV, so that you don't have to make the set up part of your settling into camp routine. One often overlooked benefit of choosing to bring Direct TV with you for life on the road is that, because you'll still have access to your local channels, you'll be able to keep up with what's going on wherever you call home!

The other way to take Direct TV with you when you travel is by having the TracVision A5 installed on the roof of your minivan or SUV. The TracVision A5 is a low profile satellite antenna that can be installed on the roof of just about any vehicle and integrate itself with any vehicle's on board video system. The TracVision, when combined with a special programming package: Direct TV's Total Choice Mobile, will allow your passengers to watch any of over one hundred and fifty five channels while traveling on any road in North America with a clear view to the south. (Those pesky canyons are an exception with this system too!) It's a great way to keep your passengers occupied whether they're children or adults.

These are just a few of the extra steps that Direct TV HD takes in order to bring television satisfaction to its subscribers.
