Cable TV providers have expanded to offer more services than just cable TV programming. Cable TV providers now also offer Broadband Internet services and digital phone services that help meet the family’s needs for entertainment and affordable communication.

These services can be offered separately or in a bundled package, making it possible for the family to enjoy affordable cable TV programming, broadband internet and digital phone services, all for one bundled monthly price.

The broadband high-speed internet service offers surfing and downloading speeds that are over 100 times faster than dial up and up to six times faster than DSL, offered through the phone company. The difference is the digital connection offered by the cable TV provider. Digital connections are always on and offer wider bandwidths to transmit information through, so larger files can be transferred and downloaded faster. More information is processed quicker, making surfing and downloading virtually effortless. Cable TV providers are also able to utilize online security software to make it safer to surf and chat, or bank and shop. This security software is offered free to the customer to protect the computer and family from popups, viruses, spyware and identity theft. Some providers also offer online Parental Controls to block undesirable content. With the faster speeds, free security software and Parental Controls, cable TV providers are able to offer a faster, safer online experience for the whole family to enjoy.

Phone service through a cable TV provider can help the family save money with a calling plan that allows unlimited local and long distance calling to areas that include the United States and Canada, with some providers offering Puerto Rico, as well. These calling plans also include important calling features like three way calling, call return, call forwarding and more, for up to twelve features total. Cable TV providers also offer voicemail, with some providers sending customers email notifications when a new voicemail is received. Subscribers can check their voicemail from any location in the world with internet access.

Cable TV providers also have more to offer for cable programming, with over two hundred and seventy-five channels to choose from. These channels can be broadcast in regular programming, digital programming or HDTV. The provider will specify which channel packages offer what broadcasting. Cable TV programming also comes with exciting features like Video On Demand, Pay Per View selections and the DVR, or digital video recorder. These features can provide additional viewing selections like newly released movies and live sporting and music events. The DVR helps the viewer make the most out of every selection by rewinding, pausing or fast forwarding them. Viewers get to watch instant playbacks, fast forward through commercials and pause the selections to watch them later.

Time Warner Cable offers products and services that can help enhance the family life and atmosphere at home. Reliable services for cable TV allow the family affordable home entertainment to relax with after a stressful day. Their High-Speed Online services provide access to the internet for work or school-related business, or for entertainment. And the quality digital phone service provides a way to stay in touch with friends and family, an especially valuable tool for the elderly or families that are in rural areas.

These services are becoming less of a luxury and more of a necessity to many families, making it extremely important that these services are affordable for even the most basic budget. Many people think of the Pay-TV providers as the ones that set the price, but Time Warner Cable is revealing the other half of the process, in a campaign to educate the public, and help them see what actually does determine the price on the monthly bill.

To help the public understand the decision-making process behind the monthly bill, Time Warner Cable is launching a public-education program. Customers can look this up online at www.rolloverorgettough.com. A quote from this website states, “No one likes paying more. You don't. We don't. Yet, every time our contracts with TV program providers come up for renewal, that's what we face. Price increases. Big ones. Up to 300% more. Sometimes we can avoid passing them on to you. Sometimes we can't. Sometimes, a network will threaten to take your shows away if we don't roll over.”

In the interest of education, Time Warner Cable has released information on the contract negotiation process and what it costs the consumer when pricing goes up. This information can be found online, at the web page and on banner ads, on a variety of channels on Time Warner Cable programming, in print and on other media. The website has a place to post comments. The name and email collected at the time of posting will be used to send information concerning pricing issues and updates, as they become available.

Time Warner Cable offers this education for non-promotional reasons. Alex Dudley, Vice President for Time Warner Cable Public Relations had this to say, “The strategy is to educate our customers that this is an issue that has the potential to impact their cable bill. There is a direct correlation between the negotiations that we have with programmers and customer cable bills.”

The desired goal for this campaign is education for the public and for Time Warner Cable to let their customers know who their loyalties lie with, namely their customers. Dudley had this to say, “We want to make sure that they understand what we are up to and that we are doing our best to fight for them.”

Time Warner Cable is offering an inside look to a process that has, heretofore, not been revealed on this level. Time Warner Cable customers have a company that wants the customers to be involved.

Comcast Cable, the largest cable TV provider in the nation, is trying to acquire 51% of NBC universal. The benefits for the this acquisition would include the appearance of TV shows on mobile phones and other mobile devices in quicker fashion, and the newly released movies, just out of theaters, could reach Comcast Cable On Demand customers faster. Comcast Cable currently provides cable TV service, high-speed Internet and digital phone service for over 30,000,000 monthly subscribers.

Their cable TV services include an On Demand feature, offering a viewing selection of over 10,000 children's programs, premier events, movies, network shows and newly released movies, just out of the theater. These selections are free of charge or competitively priced, and are available to the customer 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They also offer Pay Per View, providing customers with live music concerts and live sporting events. Comcast Cable also provides their customers with a DVR that can record and store favorite programming. Comcast Cable also provides Parental Controls, to be used with their regular cable channels, the programming stored on the DVR and their online service.

Their broadband Internet Service offers speeds that are faster than most DSL Services, and provides free Security Software that provides additional security online. Comcast Cable also offers digital phone services, with unlimited local and long distance calling that covers the United States and Canada. They also offer other competitive features like call waiting, voice mail, three-way calling, call return, repeat dialing, and others, giving up to twelve features in all, with voicemail added as an additional feature.

If Comcast Cable succeeds, they will acquire the majority share for NBC Universal, and gain control of cable channels like USA, certain sports networks, the Weather Channel, SyFy, Telemundo, Universal Pictures, the NBC network and certain theme Parks.

Comcast Cable hopes to make this acquisition to help improve the On Demand selection they currently carry, and to stay competitive with other companies that offer pay TV Services, like Dish Network and phone companies. These companies are expanding to offer the same services- cable programming, high-speed internet services and digital phone services that Comcast Cable currently provides. While their rates and features are competitive with other Pay TV providers, Comcast Cable wants to expand their market to include other venues of revenue, taking the burden off of their main source of income, their cable TV programming.

While this makes certain stockholders and consumer rights' groups nervous, stating decreased stock value and higher cable rates for the hesitation, Comcast Cable has assured their stockholders that dividends will increase by 40% and the company will continue to buy back stock.

If Comcast Cable succeeds with this venture, competitors like Direct TV and others will have to contract directly with Comcast Cable for their programming options.

Current Comcast Cable customers are sure to gain additional programming options and features if Comcast Cable is able to make the 51% acquisition, benefiting by accessing programs on mobile devices, and additional programming for the On Demand selections.

Sunday, January 10, 2010

Comcast Cable offers cable TV programming, high-speed internet and digital phone services. They also offer features that go with their programming packages, like Parental Controls, On Demand and Pay Per View selections, and the DVR, or digital video recorder.

These features are competitively priced and offer entertainment in addition to the regular cable channels provided in their programming packages. The Pay Per View selections include live music and sporting events, like boxing and wrestling matches by some of the most well-known athletes and artists in their fields. The On Demand feature offers additional selections for children’s programming, newly released movies, network programming and premier events, among others. The DVR is capable of recording and storing up to 60 hours of programming. It also gives the viewer the option of fast forwarding, rewinding and pausing live television events and other selections found on the Pay Per View and On Demand features. Both the regular cable programming and the programming stored on the DVR can be controlled with the Comcast Cable Parental Controls. These Controls can be used to block entire channels or specific programming. Comcast Cable also offers Parental Controls for their online services.

Their programming products and services are comparable to those offered by competitors like Direct TV, but Comcast Cable has been feeling pressured lately due to the expansion these competitors have made. Once a single service provider, companies like Direct TV can now also provide telephone and internet services, as well.

To gain a competitive edge over their competition, Comcast Cable is now seeking to acquire 51% of NBC Universal. This acquisition would increase their control over certain programming and channels, making it possible to provide programming to more customers on their mobile devices, like cell phones, and to increase the viewing selection that is currently being offered through their On Demand feature. The acquisition would also decrease the waiting time between movies leaving the theater and appearing in the Comcast Cable On Demand menu.

If the acquisition were completed, Comcast Cable would gain control over at least twenty cable channels, some of which are regional sports channels. Other acquired channels would include Syfy, The Weather Channel, USA and Telemundo. Comcast Cable would also have control of Universal Pictures, certain theme parks and the NBC network. The acquisition would also make it necessary for competitors like Direct TV to contract directly with Comcast Cable to get the rights to show certain programming and channels.

The talk of acquisition has scared some shareholders and consumers rights’ groups, who point out concerns about monthly rate increases and stock value dropping. However, to date, there has been no mention of rate increases going into effect, and Comcast Cable is increasing stock dividends to 40% and leaving a buyback option open for current stock holders.

If Comcast Cable is successful, customers have quite a few extra features to look forward to, including the option of watching favorite programs on mobile devices, or accessing newly released movies as soon as they leave the theater.

Charter Cable is a proven provider for the entertainment and communication needs of the family. Charter Cable offers great cable TV, internet and phone services at affordable prices. Families can get the services they need for a monthly rate that fits into the family budget, helping to save time and money in other places.

The products and services that Charter Cable has to offer are digital, rather than the traditional unreliable cable that was used with the original cable service. Digital cable brings an added measure of reliability and quality to the cable service, but it brings the same reliability and quality to internet services, making broadband possible and giving an alternative to analog phone services. Charter Cable provides the services they offer with professional courtesy and prompt customer service, but they offer even more with their homepage.

This homepage is built to be personalized to tailor to the particular interests of the family, with links to popular topics of interest like news, sports, celebrity gossip, music and more, with videos, an online TV guide, a stock market watch, a three-day weather forecast and more. These links are a valuable resource to help save time for busy families, but Charter Cable has even more to offer, helping families integrate Charter Cable services into their every day lives.

But Charter Cable goes even further, offering more family-oriented services that go above and beyond the basics offered by most cable TV providers. Charter Cable provides services that offer homework help for the children in the house, sports links for the fans in the house, information of the weather, the best vacation destinations for quality family time away, and even a link to the American Greetings site that allows the family to send personalized cards to loved ones. The Variety Pack is one package that offers seven links to additional resources for education and entertainment the whole family can benefit from.

Concerned parents can use the Variety Pack, offered by Charter Cable on their homepage, to give their children the help that is needed for homework and research, with the Encyclopedia Britannica. This online resource has over 120,000 articles, written by leading experts in their fields, with corresponding images and videos, maps and a world atlas. The Encyclopedia Britannica has long been a trusted source for reliable and accurate information. The Variety also includes the Shockwave.com link, which provides access to over 500 online games, with no ads and no time limits. These games offer a fun way to participate in strategy, word puzzles, arcade games and more to improve skills in the necessary areas. For the younger children, Charter Cable has included the CleverIsland.com link, to help improve on math and reading skills in a fun and natural environment. CleverIsland.com offers over 100 games, with virtual report cards to show the progress and areas that need improvement.

Charter Cable offers services for the family that go beyond providing cable, phone and internet. They offer a way to bring the family together in a way that saves them time and money.
