Americans have always loved their photographs. Even back in the nineteenth century when photographs were in sepia, were difficult to take and develop, and generally weren't very good, people still had to have pictures of themselves and all of their loved ones. Of course, photography has gotten a lot better over the decades. It's more convenient, more colorful, and with the introduction of digital technology, photography is also much more convenient.

Everyone wants to get the most out of the money that they spend on any given service, but when it comes to high speed Internet not all technologies lend themselves to providing a great value. Take satellite Internet for example. On the surface the ability to get Internet access even if you live out in the absolute middle of nowhere is pretty attractive. A little more research however shows that satellite Internet requires a huge up front investment in equipment and a massive outlay of money every month to keep the service going. To make matters even worse, it isn't even that fast and has such a high level of lag time in the signal that it's virtually useless for many popular types of online applications- including gaming! Even broad band cable high speed Internet service is disappointing in many ways. While its providers brag about its high download speed, they never mention how easily that speed can be compromised by local Internet traffic and all of the devices that people load onto the cable TV network! On top of that, it's possible to only transmit a minuscule amount of data upstream compared to what you're supposed to download and that small amount of data is made even smaller by limits on upstream data and all of the factors that can limit downloaded data as well!

Gadgets used to be relatively unsophisticated and therefore much more limited. However, over the course of the past decade or so, we've seen a number of factors that have made electronic gadgets much more functional, fun, easy to use, and sophisticated. Generally, this comes from a combination of new technologies and older technologies that have suddenly gotten cheaper and more reliable.
