Dish Network – Improving Your Experience
Dish Network is a leader in the Pay TV industry, offering service all over the United States, with products and features that have helped set industry standard for almost 20 years. Their products have won awards, many times being the first of their kind on the market. Currently, Dish Network provides over 14 million households in the United States with service, as they continue to expand in their coverage areas and in the services and features they offer.
Among Dish Network’s best-known products are the DVR with expanded storage capacity, offering storage for up to 1000 hours of programming, making it the only DVR currently available with that storage capacity. Dish Network was also the company that designed and introduced the HD 1080p formatting that has been compared to Blu Ray technology for the image and sound enhancements that exceeds even traditional HD. Dish Network was also the first company to offer international programming, which currently numbers at over 180 channels, in over 28 different languages.
Now they are bringing a new service to the spotlight, scheduled to be released in the first half of 2010. This service provides people without access to regular Dish Network service with the option of watching their international programming online.
“As the leading multichannel video provider of international channels in the U.S., we are excited to enhance our nationwide distribution of international content to include IPTV. We know some of our customers prefer to watch their favorite channels via satellite and others prefer broadband delivery, and we are pleased that we can now offer a solution that fits their specific needs.,” said Chris Kuelling, Vice President of International Programming for DISH Network.
This online service will provide viewers with live Pay Per View selections and On Demand selections that are not currently available with Dish Network’s current international programming packages. This service will be available on internet-ready handheld portables, PCs and even on televisions that are internet capable. Customers will be able to watch live events, as they happen, in real time, from places all over the world. Or they can find their favorite network programs from other countries and watch them in their native languages.
To bring this new service to their existing customers and other people interested in live international programming, Dish Network partnered with NeuLion, Inc. NeuLion is an IPTV provider that offers service for multiple platforms through their “universal platform”, streaming programming to people all over the world.
“We see distinct synergies between our respective television distribution services and believe that DISH Network customers will benefit from the further reach provided by a broadband offering. We believe that the match of our technology with DISH Network’s international programming rights will greatly benefit ethnic communities in the United States.,” said Chris Wagner, Executive Vice President of NeuLion.
The partnership between Dish Network and NueLion will provide new and exciting entertainment options that can include native programming for foreign residents in the United States. This service is another “first” provided by Dish Network.
